About Me
My
Name is Joanna Gomes and I am 34 years old. I am the mother of three
wonderful young children ,who inspire me constantly.
Especially my infant daughter Matea who was born
on February 3, 2004. I am married to my loving husband
and best friend Jason. We live in beautiful Toronto, Canada
Since a very early age, I have been interested in all things artistic and
creative. Over the years I have studied and practiced painting, drawing
and
sculpting. My love for these things led to a college education in art
where I studied Graphic Art and Design at George Brown
College in Toronto, Canada. I have furthered my personal studies with
numerous years of painting using various mediums from oil paints and
watercolors to guache and acrylics. I have also studied still drawing as
well as life drawing with great focus on the human body.
In the fall of 2002, I discovered the art of Reborn Babies. I was
absolutely fascinated by the beauty of these dolls and immediately wanted
to make my own. Reborn Babies become a huge passion for me . That passion
and drive is how I would later approach sculpting.
I continued to make reborn babies until the spring of 2005, constantly
striving to improve my technique and always experimenting with new
methods, intent on producing better and more realistic dolls with each
attempt. In the spring of 2005, I began to study and create in the
wonderful art of sculpting with great earnest. and I haven't been able to
stop since! There is nothing more beautiful and precious than a baby and I
hope that with each baby I sculpt, I am able to capture the innocence and
purity of an infant.
